FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Starting therapy brings up a lot of questions. Here are some of the ones we hear most.

Faith & Our Approach

Do I have to be a Christian to book with you?

No, you don't. We currently work with clients who are not Christians.

Although we believe it can be very beneficial to work with a therapist who shares similar values to you, we encourage you to do what feels right and makes you feel comfortable and safe.

Is faith part of every session?

Only if you want it to be. We offer faith-informed therapy for clients who want it. Spiritual integration is always optional and is approached collaboratively, with respect for your values, comfort level, and background.

Sessions

Where are you located?

We provide virtual sessions to clients across Canada. We are not currently seeing clients in person, but this may change in the future.

How long are sessions?

Individual, student/youth, and low-cost sessions are typically 50 minutes. Couples and family sessions are typically 75 minutes, and group sessions are typically 90 minutes.

Pricing & Billing

What are your rates?

Rates vary by service and clinician. Sliding scale and low-cost options are also available.

What payments do you accept?

We accept credit cards, Visa Debit, Mastercard Debit, and e-transfers.

Are your services covered by insurance?

Yes. Our registered therapists are members of the OCSWSSW and/or the CRPO. Most clients pay for sessions and receive an invoice they can submit to their insurer for reimbursement.

It is the client's responsibility to contact their insurer to ensure services are covered, as well as the amount of coverage available. All remaining balances are to be paid by the client directly.

Do you offer direct billing?

Yes, we do! Certain therapists at our practice are currently able to bill insurers directly through TELUS Health eClaims. Direct billing is not yet available with every therapist, so please let us know when booking if you'd like to use it.

If you are unsure whether your insurer is registered with eClaims, please check here or contact your insurer to inquire.

Do you offer low-cost options?

Yes. Our low-cost program offers affordable sessions, usually with our therapy interns, and pro bono Christian therapy options are also available.

What is your cancellation policy?

With 24 hours' notice or more, there is no fee. Cancellations within 24 hours are charged 50% of the session fee, and cancellations with less than 4 hours' notice or missed sessions are charged the full fee. Sessions can usually be rescheduled at no cost with at least 24 hours' notice.

Is what I share in therapy confidential?

Yes. In most situations, what you share stays confidential and is not released without your written permission. There are a few legal and ethical exceptions, such as a risk of serious harm, concerns about abuse or neglect, or a court order. Your therapist will review these with you.
