Confidentiality
Our therapists work hard to make therapy feel safe, respectful, and private. In most situations, what you share stays confidential. There are a few legal and ethical exceptions, and those are outlined below in plain language.
1Our Commitment
Therapists in the practice respect client privacy, hold information in strict confidence, and comply with applicable privacy and related legislation. Outside of the exceptions below, no information is released to a third party without prior written authorization.
2Your Rights
You have the right to withhold consent, withdraw consent, or place conditions on the disclosure of your information at any time.
3Exceptions to Confidentiality
Confidentiality may need to be limited in rare situations involving safety concerns, legal requirements, or mandatory reporting obligations, such as risk of serious harm, concerns about abuse or neglect, or a court order. These situations are uncommon, and the details will be reviewed and discussed more fully during your therapy session.
4Consultation and Support
Therapists may consult anonymously with other professionals for guidance on treatment approaches. This is done to support high-quality care while still protecting client privacy.
5Other Requests for Information
Requests involving physicians, lawyers, family members, or other professionals are discussed as they arise and require written permission unless disclosure is ordered by a court.
